View Full Version : [ubuntu] video protocol from NASA
August 18th, 2009, 10:51 AM
I download a lot of video from NASA (in XP) and have no trouble viewing same.
However, when I attempted to do the same with Ubuntu, it searched for a suitable Plugin and couldn't find one.
Is there anything out there that can read on Ubuntu the Microsoft Media Server (MMS) protocol that NASA uses?

I tried all those - all negative.
http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html (http://ubuntuforums.org/www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html) is the address of NASA's continuous Public video outlet.

I had relied on the auto-play function before.
Fortunately NASA provides other viewing options.
When I select Real Player it supplies the option of using Movie Player.
When this is done it reads the video OK.
I just didn't look into it close enough!
