I am looking for a way to have a "right-click/left-click" style menu in gnome like the ones in xfce environments. Sure there are menus available for AWN but I would eventually want to get away from having awn on my desktop as well as eliminating the top panel. Anybody ever heard of such a thing?

This might help:

But it seems to only work when you have a file selected, sadly.

Thanks, but that isn't what I am looking for. I want to be able to have a desktop devoid of any panels or or tool bars so that when I need a menu, I just right-click my mouse and the gnome menu appears.
