The title pretty much says it all. Near the end of the install for Jaunty, grub-install fails. I think this is a known bug, but I'm not sure to work around it. As far as I can determine, the installation was successful except that there will be no grub to help boot into it at start up. Is there another boot manager I can install or another way I can install grub? If so, how do I go about this? Any different suggestions?
Thanks very much.

I also tried using refit. While the boot loader does show up on start up, it does not give an option to boot Linux which should be, for all intents and purposes, installed.

UPDATE-- the problem appears to be that GParted wrecked my gpt and/or mbr partition tables. How to fix this?
