I've got an old lappy with a P3, and 128MB RAM. I've been thinking of installing #! on it, but I'm not sure how it will run. Will this work?

It will certainly run Icebuntu (http://www.icebuntu.com) - which should be available within the next few days.

I think its a bit too small system you have for crunch bang. i use crunch bang and i can see it is very much lighter than ubuntu but not that much compared to damn small linux. tiny core . puppy linux. as examples. i also used on older hardware a distro called vector linux. but the lowest specs i had puppy running on was 64 mb ram and 100 mzh processor. it did not run at all fast but it booted. i think the damn small or puppy is the better choiche . but you can always just try install crunch bang and see if it works.
