View Full Version : [ubuntu] 9.04 Toshiba Laptop: How to enable my video card?

Hi guys,

I have Ubuntu 9.04 and using a Toshiba Satellite M215 laptop.
But I can't see my ATI Radeon video card in the 'Hardware Drivers' list. I need to enable my video card so that I will be able to set my 'Visual Effects' to 'Normal' or 'Extra' so that I can install and use compiz.

I have searched google for solutions but I can't seem to find one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks for your reply East82.

In the first instruction:
1. Install latest ubuntu kernel according to your platform(mine is amd64-generic)

How can I know my latest ubuntu kernel?

I tried that and it gave me an error:

E: Couldn't find package linux-amd64-generic
