Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 from an ESATA HDD on an XP laptop. After an attempt at installing a proprietary video driver prevented me from using the GUI, and xfix didn't fix the problem, I decided to reinstall the OS from the CD. Since I didn't want to lose my files and settings, I chose not to re-format the partition. The reinstall fixed the graphics problem, but I discovered that none of the peripherals (sound, mouse, USB keyboard, touchpad) worked. I'd like to avoid having to do a clean reinstall if possible. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
ten B
