I would like to upgrade to the 2.6.8.31 kernel in Ubuntu purely so I can use my X-fi card properly. How do I go about doing this.

I am currently running the 2.6.28-14 kernel in 9.04 (x64) just so people know.

Just roll your own using kernel check.

http://kcheck.sourceforge.net/

Just DL and install.

Very cool application for building kernels and trying different stuff out.

you can download kernels in .deb package made for ubuntu. http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

i use this to upgrade my kernel and it works. and with upgrade to 2.6.8.31 do you mean 2.6.31 ??
