I have my computer at work running Xubuntu 9.04. It is running icewm instead of xfce as its windows manager. I usually leave the computer at a console prompt when I leave work each day (ctrl+alt+f2) and then return into X when I get to work each morning (ctrl+alt+f7). Occasionally doing this switch will cause the system to lock up. I say occasionally because more times than not the switch works flawlessly and I am able to access X without any problems.

I seem to recall having a similar issue with this in the past, but can remember what the resolution was. I had Xubuntu running on this computer, but the hard drive crashed and I had to reinstall. I seem to remember that it may have had something to do with the x.org video driver. I am currently using the intel video driver. The video card on the computer according to lspci is Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 03).

Thanks
