I'm not sure if many people saw this but recently a new search engine went open to public beta. Its called Lavva www.lavva.com

its actually pretty neat because it allows peers to rank search relevance. IE: If you search for a list of the top 100 movies of all time you're probably going to find good results at the top of your Search page because people can actually do a thumbs-up or thumbs-down on each page.

It has a lot of integration with social networks for instance. In the social section if you search for miley cyrus (popular search term for the day...) it can show twitter posts ~about~ miley cyrus, or other news that people choose.

Its pretty neat and I would recommend that people should check it out at least once.

Another thing I really do like about the company itself is their entire Data Center is run on renewable energy which helps tremendously with carbon-offset. http://www.lavva.com/Info.aspx?p=11

Interesting "click on the map for news" feature.

Ooh, I like how it gives you thumbnails of the search results. That's classy.
