Ubuntu text mode

I've been having some problem installing Ubuntu as a text mode installation on a Toshibe Satellite with 120 mb RAM it stops at starting linux generic something

what is wrong???

Hard to say need more info.

When you say text mode, I am assuming you mean the Alternate CD verses the LiveCD. Is there an option to verify disk when you first boot up.

If so try that, won't fix the problem, it will tell you if the disk is defective. At the moment we are problem solving and removing variables. ;)
