compiz.. the cube

is there a way, after i have the cube, to keep it a cube untill i decide to release it..normally, you release a button, you release the cube, i want to keep it till i click to remove it... say... as a "live desktop"???

I am getting a little confused by your question but if I understand you right, then no. I don't think you can do that with Compiz.
