View Full Version : [ubuntu] very basic question on installing Pure Data

August 12th, 2009, 05:22 PM
I've had Ubuntu 9.04 installed on a laptop and it's running fine. I want to download/install Pure Data. I don't understand a lot of the terminology given in the instructions I've found so far. I'm new to Linux and most of what I'm reading in the help forums is aimed at seasoned users.

My question is - can someone give me clear newbie instructions on what I need to do to get PD downloaded, installed and up and running?

Many thanks in anticipation

If you go here (http://puredata.info/downloads), you can download a .deb for your version. Once you have downloaded the package, most likely to your desktop. just double-click the package and gdebi will take care of all the details.
