I recently installed ubuntu 9.04 (with XP dualboot) and cant even get to the login screen. after the loading bar it goes black and seems to freeze (i have waited close to 10 minutes). i tried swapping to safe graphics mode in grub and i got an error "init: rc-default main prosses (3715) terminated with status 2" (and something about Squashfs prior to the error) and have no idea what the problem is. i installed using wubi in windows as i was getting a black screen trying to boot into a live cd as well. im not sure what other info i need to provide to better describe my problem. i previously had ubuntu installed a few months back, i think it was 7.10 but dont really remember for sure. i tried using the alt install with 7.10 this time but i was unable to create a partition for some reason with this method. also seemed to have similar issue with kubuntu but didnt try to look into it before trying ubuntu again)

hardware:
pentium 2.3mhz
1536mb ram
160gb seagate hard drive (where i was installing)
60gb secondary hard drive (for music and stuff)
nvidia geforce 5 fx5200
Asrock 775i65GV motherboard (i hate it)

thanks in advance for any help

edit: downloading 9.04 alt cd to give that a shot

edit: nevermind, computer just died, worst luck ever
