Ok by default Ubuntu sets my display to 1920x1080 which makes everything very small and hard to read. So I installed a graphics card driver then came with the ATI Catalyst Control Center, and I used this tool to set it to 1280x720. But this where the problems come up. If I restart my computer with the settings on 1280x720, my TV resolution switches to 1080i then to 720p, and the desktop doesn't load correctly(no icons or task panels). I think the reason it's doing this is because its trying to set it to the native resolution but then Catalyst control center overrides it and that's whats causing the problem. Is there a way I can stop it from automatically setting the resolution to 1920x1080? I cant open display manager from accessories it causes my computer to slow down most likely due to and incompatible graphics card.
