View Full Version : [kubuntu] MS Exchange in Kontact

I have been using kontact to connect my universities exchange server through the IMAP and SMTP protocol. Sadly enough my university has decided that this is an insecure protocol and consequently it is only possible to send e-mails to users from the same domain.

I read some articles about Akonadi supporting direct access to ms exchange through the openchange project. Is this already implemented in KDE 4.3? If so, how can I use? If not, is there a way to use it?

Any help is appreciated!

I'm afraid that functionality is not yet available in KDE 4.3. The openchange resource is not yet complete enough.

thanks Steveire,
I was already afraid of that.
My university holds the position that smtp is to insecure. Specifically, when compared to the ms exchange protocol. Is this correct? If they would use TLS or SSL to secure their connection, would it not be just as safe as ms exchange?
Just wondering, otherwise I might try to convince them to secure their smtp instead of crippling it.
