If my /home partition is on a "seperate" partition, can I install Crunchbang over the top of Xubuntu & still maintain my /home from Xubuntu(since Crunchbang is based on Ubuntu)?

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to do that...I'd research it first though

You don't even need to reinstall--you can add the CrunchBang desktop to your existing Xubuntu install using the alternative install script:

http://www.crunchbanglinux.org/wiki/downloads#alternative_installation

Log out and select Sessions->Openbox from the login screen.

Thanks for your replies! I;ll check that out snowpine.

I have a full install of Xubuntu, but it says the script should only be ran on a minimal install of Ubuntu....have you tried the script from a full install yet?

Also, I'm running 8.04, can I install Crunchbang 9.04 or should it be 8.04?

I would recommend a fresh install of CrunchBang 9.04; there have been a lot of improvements since 8.04. :)
