Prevent wlan to disconnect when logging out

Using: Ubuntu Desktop 9.0.4

My wifi connection gets truncated when I log out. How can I prevent this?

I don't think there's a way to stop the wireless disconnecting when you log off. Basically all the programs except the X.org and GDM crap shut down when you log out. This includes NetworkManager.
