hello,

we are a couple of open-source hobbyists who have built a website called 'isitopen' and would like to get some feedback on the project as a concept and how we can better improve it.

the site is a technology review site that allows it's users to rate the openness of consumer-products in the context of their open-source'ness and their adherance to open-standards.

users submit products to the site, and answer a set of technical questions, each of which have a score associated. the scores are then totalled and to provide an openness score which can then be used to compare each product's opentness. the purpose of the site is to help open-source enthusiasts identify open devices before buying them.

the site is located here:

http://isitopen.eu.org/

please, any feedback, suggestions, ideas or discussion would be greatly appreciated.

to get involved, you can join the mailing list by visiting the site, otherwise, just post your comments on this thread.

Please note the following:
1) The site is still very much alpha, so you will come across bugs, and things which are broken.
2) The site is pretty broken under IE. It's been tested and works in Firefox, Opera and Safari.
3) We have no official graphic designer, so please forgive the awful aesthetics.

Many thanks,
Alex

Come on, somone must have something to say about the site. Even if it's that they think it's a bad idea and would have no use for it.

That kind of feedback would be useful since it will give us an idea of whether it's worth continuing on the project or not.

Please and thanks :)
Alex
