Hey people!

I've been screwing around with ubuntu lately on an old old old laptop of mine and I must say, I like it. Now I want to put it on my xps m1530 to dual boot with vista and I have a couple questions.

1. I was planning on using the vista disk shrink tool to make some space for ubuntu. Is that the best way to go about it?

2. Is it true that pressing the media direct button after installation will turn my laptop into nothing more than an expensive paperweight? I never use that button anyway, but just in case it accidentally gets bumped.

1. Definitely, and delete tmp files, clean out temp directories, and defrag several times first.

yes after defrag use disk management to create the partition...and but dont worry about what filesystem you use as ubuntu will make you decide ext3 or ext4 at install!
