View Full Version : [xubuntu] Sudden extensive systemic problems

I have been running Xubuntu on my asus eee pc for quite a while now. Suddenly, and I haven't made any updates or changes in the system (too small to permit it easily) things are going whacky:
I can't read or right to any of my USB slots
I can't read or right to the SD card
I can't get permissions in Terminal or anywhere else to even try to change it
The size of the window image has increased, making the bottom of the window invisible along with the right edge of the window. I can't save or close most files or programs.

Mainly, I can't work on any of this stuff, because I don't have permission to even use sudo

It accepts my user name and password at boot, but not beyond that stage

The system is becoming unusable. I can't change anything. I can't read my disks or disk drives, so I can't just install something new. I can't backup. Oh, some of the keyboard moves are out too: can't scroll, for example, and if I push the down arrow it jumps to the bottom of the page.

All of this has manifested in the last two weeks.
