Ok -- I guess I'm looking for a commercial offsite backup solution. Anyone can recommend a service. One of the features I'm looking for is the ability to do encrypted backups -- with the encryption happening before the file transfer -- I dont trust sites with my information (if I can prevent it!). I'm open to people's experiences.

Here is a script you can use with the Amazon S3 service that does encryption. I haven't used it, but it seems like it would work nicely.

No personal experience with the service, but Spider Oak offers a turnkey solution that appears to encrypt at the source: https://spideroak.com/engineering_matters#encryption_specifications . They offer 2GB for free so you can try them out.
