New Installation and Raid 1

Sorry if my issue is elementary however I am totally new to ubuntu and I am trying to install the new version 9.04 on a ASUS MB - P4, 3 sata drives from a DVD disk; it previuouly had winxp. 1 of the sata drives is standalone and the other 2 are configured with Promise Hardware controller on MB. The partition install launches and asks me to select the drive, I select Use entire disk. In the drop-down box 3 drives show up as identical,sda,sdb,and sdc. I select one, the install starts and when it reaches 5% I get an error that the app ubiquity crashed and that is as far as I get.

after 3 hours of messing with I finally gave up and yanked all but 1 drive out and set from enhanced sata in the BIOS to compatible. It will do to run Boxee
