I am completely new to Ubuntu.

I have a problem loading flash - a search of the forums suggests that I need to update my installation and then the Flash install should work. However the Upgrade Manager is trying to use a http proxy setting when I have set my system setting as a direct connection. (I think it relates to a mistype when setting up Ubuntu originally a couple of days ago).

How do I set the proxy settings for Upgrade Manager?
