I recently installed the previous version (8.10?) on my parent's POS computer and had to disable Compiz to make the monitor work. Update Manager is recommending that they upgrade to 9.04, but I don't want them to if it's going to overwrite my disabling of Compiz. I don't want to have to do that again, especially since they live across the country. I also can't get remote access of their machine, but that's another story. I just want to know if upgrading will screw up the disabling of Compiz. Anyone know for sure? Thanks in advance.

Most likely it will. If it works for them then they have no reason to upgrade into probable trouble. Lots of things can go wrong with an upgrade. You should really be there for that.

Good to know. Thanks for that.

Good to know. Thanks for that.

An option is to go to software sources (system > administration) > update tab > and choose the appropriate selection in the release upgrade section. If you don't want to upgrade, choose never.

As markbuntu said .... 'most likely it will'.
