Doesn't Linux like us 'users' ? A week ago, before the upbraid upgrade,
I had the perfect system... The upgrade is worse than 8.04, unencrypted,
although I was 'impressed' with HOW IT WAS DONE in the Terminal... But I
just need my box to work like it did, and now i just wanna go back to
b-leg w's... if at all possible.... ('saturday's nights alright for
fightin,' get a little action in...' e.j.)
The Medibuntu Adobe Flash non-free 'fix' in the Forum today, is very long and involved,
during which, my roomates 1500w hairdryer causes the circuit-breaker to throw every
day for an hour, the hour that I was trying to read and do the 'fix' for
streaming, and for dvd::rip, where a minimum of 3 dependencies were left completely
uninstalled, a lengthy 'fix' from the mfgr, and relearning Archive Mgr. and
Konqueror, and gosh darn, don't we get to ever HAVE this product, or do you only
give it to 'corporate,' u monsters ? ?:guitar: :lolflag:

This Post is about my Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 working perfectly, until an
'Update' changed all that, and sent me down a black-hole to LESS than
8.04, unencrypted, that is... har, har... I was making a joke of this
joke that I will ever have a FINELY TUNED MACHINE under linux, but at least I
had it for a week... last week... Can't I have it back ? ? ?:confused:
(Was I downgraded for a reason ?):lolflag:
P.S. I'm being TOTALLY sarcastic in 'english' India Friend, abhilashm86 ! ! It's
alright if you do not understand me, and I apologize...

Your problem is the Kernel update?
What update are you talking about?
If it was the kernel, go into Synaptic Package Manager and install startupmanager. Then open said program and where it has the scroller for different kernals, pick the one that is not the newest.
Talking trash about the OS then expecting help isn't really the answer in a forum where none of us get a paycheck for helping each other isn't nice. For the most part this OS was written by people in other countries just as much if not more than in the US,so please show some respect.

~ Can't I have it back ? ? ~
Yes, simply restore it from your backup.
You do have a backup....?

Well now, I don't think it's the OS's 'fault' per se, but there seems to
be little continuity to the Update. AFTER the Update Manager went
through this process, I went to Synaptic, Preferences, Distribution, and
found that I had allowed 'Highest Version' instead of 'Jaunty,' and
changed it, but it has NOT changed itself back, of course... (I thought
I was getting 'highest version' OF Jaunty, silly me...) My system
back-up for Jaunty, may not still be there, since I have set it to
back-up daily. I don't know yet, and have never gone in to utilize it.
My stupid question right now is, my tmp file seems to be 'full,'
and I do not know how to alleviate it, if anyone can fill me in on a
proper procedure, it would be really helpful, and greatly appreciated.
I am only in struggle with it so much, going to software mfgrs sites, to
get the ability to have their dependencies, is becoming a full-time
job... (i.e. ies4linux, medibuntu streaming changes, cedega, dvd::rip,
is all I tried to work at in the past 24 hours and I effectively, got
nowhere, for it is time-consuming... And I need to get a filmmakers DVD
uploaded to YouTube quickly. It's my first upload to YouTube, and I
thought I might have to rip it, so I did so with DVD Encoder OGM Rip, but
none of it streams properly in MPlayer, nor had the sound synched... (The endless
modern problem of Format Issues are so frustrating, on top of it all...) So,
I'll try to upload to YouTube, directly from the DVD...) YouTube IS
streaming properly for me now, without the Medibuntu Adobe Flash non-free
'fix,' so maybe it was their fault this morning, instead of mine...
I don't mean to be rude, only a bit funny, since it is really seeming
like I end up taking backward steps, inadvertently, too often. (Also, I
installed AND uninstalled Cedega in the last 24 hours also, when I found
my Intel 945 GC won't work with it either !) My fault or the nature of
the 'beast,' is all I'm really dealing with ! lol
Yes I KNOW no one really gets paid, and it's totally community efforts,
which I very much appreciate. Very Much. But I can't seem to really
control my system, without making ALL the mistakes, FIRST ! (It
makes me doubt my own intuit-tivity, which used to be pretty
good !:p)
I have really Loved Ubuntu this past year. I'm only disappointed I can't
seem to accomplish more than I have, in that time... Just green, a
newbie, and green around the edges...):P
