I am trying to install skype, but after downloading the .deb package I get an error message stating " Wrong architecture 'i386' ".
Can't seem to work out what I'm doing wrong. I have downloaded the file several times in case it got corrupted en route.
Thanks in advane for any help..........

You have 64-bit Ubuntu installed whereas skype site provides only 32-bit version. You have to add medibuntu repository which provides 64-bit skype. The medibuntu website has the instructions for that. Another method...install ultamatix (google it). the first page has ultamatix deb at the bottom for downloading. The program allows you to install several software like skype, acrobat reader etc. without any hassles
