View Full Version : [ubuntu] Unable to install adobe reader and packet tracer .bin files

Guys,

I am new here and user of Ubuntu. Already read many topics on how to install (add remove, synaptic, terminal) software but no success.

add/remove and synaptic - cannot find on the list
terminal - error is: E: Couldn't find package packettracer

Please need your help asap on how to install .bin files.

Adobe reader .. depends on which version of Ubuntu are you running ( 9.04 - available in repos from Add/Remove ).

I am using Ubuntu 8.10 and the files are .bin and not .tar.gz

AdbeRdr9.1.2-1_i486linux_enu.bin
AdbeRdr9.1.2-1_i486linux_enu.bin

Please help.

Why would you want to install .bin if you can download .deb ( http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/9.x/9.1.2/enu/AdbeRdr9.1.2-1_i386linux_enu.deb ) ? :)

What you do not like Evince (joke).
.bin files is about same as .exe try to double click run them.

Those not in package manager programs are always problematic just try to avoid them as much as possible.

Before running them, chmod +x :p
