Hi There,

I wonder if anyone can help.

I am trying to install Ububtu 9.04 on my pc.

I put in the cd, it boots, I choose English and click Install Ubuntu.

The install bar starts going back and forth for about 2 mins, then the bar stops and my pc restarts.

It does not give me any error messages or anything that I can see.

I have tried other linux distros to see if they work, but they all seem to do the same thing.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be, or how I go about finding out how to fix it?

Thanks

Have you checked the CD with the "Check for defects" option?

Hi,

I just ran the check for defects and it says no errors.

I have tried about 4 different distro's of linux so I dont think it will be something unique to just ubuntu, must be something they all have in common.

I have formatted the partition I want to install ubuntu too with Ext3. Is that correct?

Are their any boot options I can try that might help me discover what the problem might be?

I ran memtest86+ and no errors.

How should I proceed?

I tried using
acpi=off, nopic and nolapic as other options and instead of restarting it just hangs. I don't know if that means anything...

Have you MD5SUM (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM) the downloaded iso?

Just a wild thought; do you have enough hard drive space?
