View Full Version : [ubuntu] afforable PCI-X video card for 64-bit 8.10

August 7th, 2009, 04:30 PM
I had wakeup display issue on Nvidia FX 1400, 8.10 64-bit.
I am able to ssh to it after push power/wake up button, but Samsung 19" LCD stays blank. This is on HP XW6200.

Should I replace with ATI card?
Any suggestion is welcome.

Whether you go for nVidia or AMD/ATi depends on what you're going to do with your system. If you're going to play World of Warcraft for example, then nVidia seems to be the best choice at the present.

The cards from AMD/ATi have cheaper cards and some of them produce less heat than what comes from nVidia and draw less power, especially the AMD/ATI Radeon 4670 which seems to be quite popular with a price tag below 100 dollars (not attractive for WoW).
