I have an old iMac G4 "FlowerPot" running Debian "Squeeze" and XFCE 4.6.2 that I'm using as a home media center, but I can't seem to get the screen to turn off; note, not blank or go black, but actually turn off. Any ideas?

I'm also posting on the Debian help fora; thanks!

EDIT:
On the #debianppc irc, I received some incredibly good advice and tried
xset dpms force off but this doesn't work. Any other ideas?

EDIT2:
No one? Really!? I can't imagine I'm the only one who's ever thought of/wanted this...
