I'd just like to start a poll, of what you would like packaged for Jaunty. It can be something that has an old or crippled version already in the repositories, or something that is useful but is simply only available as source code.

The best and most popular suggestions, I'll probably make packages of.

PCSX2, Mupen64plus off the top of my head.

The Eclipse package is sorely out of date last time I checked.

Banshee - Great music player
LiVES or Openshot - Non-linear video editor
VLC Media Player
Something other than Pidgin for an IM client (I would say aMSN but it really should be multi-protocol)

Why does KDE insist on having to recreate the wheel and put a K in it?

Why does KDE insist on having to recreate the wheel and put a K in it?

Qt != GTK

Why does KDE insist on having to recreate the wheel and put a K in it?

The same could be asked of every Free Software coding effort ever technically. Why recreate the wheel?

Because maybe we can make it better each time?

That's an interesting set of suggestions, and not quite what I expected, but it still excites me and I'll get to it shortly :-)

I'd quite like to see Dwarf Fortress and a few of its dependencies packaged for Ubuntu.

Heck, if I knew what I was doing, I'd package it myself.

I would love to have Thunderbird 3.2 on Ubuntu. It looks much better than 2.0.

I will also be happy when Ubuntu has a version of FF3.5 that works on my system. Currently every way I have tried to install creates major issues for me. (I can wait for them on Karmic though.)

Maybe a programs that backs up every program installed along with the 9.04 ISO without having to compile it. Uck and APTonCD only do a partial job.

Shouldn't the question be "What new programs do you want packaged for Karmic?"

Hello Thisislaw,

You are in luck with one of your wishes here.

We are packaging OpenShot right now for both Jaunty and Karmic.

There have been some very significant advances in the development of OpenShot over the last few weeks, with much more to come any day now.

So get ready with your cam :P
