how do i reinstall grub

i tryed to update to grub2 and now every time i try to boot it gives me error 11 so i cant boot ubuntu. my plan is to boot a live cd of ubuntu or super grub (or something else like that) and eather reinstall grub or rescan the systems i can boot that are stored in menu.lst
