Upgrade or New install to Jaunty

I am currenty running intrepid and have it loaded with programs, will upgrading still keep everything. Is it better to do a new install or upgrade reguardless of if I do loose stuff? What is the recomended way to install jaunty?

If you simply upgrade nothing will be lost, but things can break or not work properly after the upgrade. Fresh install is usually the best option where possible. Cheers!
