Hi people. I am a completely new user owing to the fact that vista kept on crashing on me. I must say I love Ubuntu - BUT - I installed it alongside vista to trial, and now I want to install it INSTEAD of vista but I keep getting an error message which starts:

End of central directory signature not found........

Also when I tried installing updates - I get:

Not enough free disk space
The upgrade needs a total of 390M free space on disk '/'.
Please free at least an additional 244M of disk space on '/'.

Now I know that there is heaps of space on my hard drive - just don't know what to do from here on.......

Can anyone help? I thank you in advance.

If you want to get rid of vista, you can select use entire disk at the partitioning screen. But back up your data first, because it will be gone.

Here is into about the other problem:

(I sam kicking myself for not reading merlinus's link.)

If you have a restore partition, you may want to hold on to it for just in case purposes.

Using the LiveCD click install and it will walk you through the process.

Boot from the live cd and select install. Answer a few questions, and the partitioning screen will come up.

When you say live CD, you mean the Ubuntu one that I have?

Yes. Install the same way you did the first time, but select use entire disk at the partitioning screen.
