How can I make my programs to run automaticly
I have some programs, and I want to run everytime I start my system.

add them at

-> system ->preferences -> Startup Application

have an option of just putting the command or browsing to them...

System > Preferences > Startup Applications.

Click on add and type the name of the program in the name field, the command to start it in the command field and whatever you want in the comment field.

Click the add button and when you reboot the program will start.

Alternate-click on that program's start icon then click properties. It's there.

will this work for the antivirus i need to run on start up for updates.
Please dont tell me i dont need antivirus for linux becuse i used to keep my files i use in windows clean. i sometimes bring work home.

i have avg8 is to do the update i have an alias called update2 it requiers sudo priv to run so how do i set it up under systerm>perferences>startup applications

command update2

You can probably tell it to start automatically but it will probably ask for the password when it starts.
