If I install something with apt-get can I uninstall with synaptic or does that cause problems? Sometimes the terminal is easier to open and install because I have it mapped to a shortcut and I can type faster than reaching over to grab the mouse. In other cases I want to read the description. Also, what is the difference between apt-get and aptitude?
Thanks.

Synaptic is just a interface to apt-get. You can install/uninstall safely any program with Synaptic, it's the same thing as installing/uninstalling by apt-get.

Thanks. So, what is the difference between aptitude and apt-get? Does aptitude get more dependencies or something?
