my laptop is currently running windows xp (like total crap) so i figure ill try out ubuntu

question: does ubuntu support wireless internet connection? how do i connect if it does?

Needs more info. What wireless chip do you have?

The best case scenario is that you boot the Ubuntu LiveCD and the wireless connection works without setup, but don't count on that. Some chipsets need proprietary drivers or to use a Windows wireless driver with ndiswrapper.

Wireless works, but your milage may vary to get it working out of the box.

My wireless network controller is working great, and it worked out-of-the-box with Jaunty. I'm viewing this forum right now over that controller right now.

In the past, wireless was more difficult in Linux. My last laptop's wireless was more flaky this this laptop. What's your laptop? If you put the Ubuntu install CD into the laptop, does it automatically find the wireless when you run demo mode?
