When I upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 I got the following error:
adding client to servers'list failed, CORBA error:
IDL:omg.org/CORBA/COMM_FAILURE:1.0
The rest of the upgrade went fine, but now when I start Ubuntu I don't get the desktop graphics, I only see the terminal screen. It looks like xwindows and gnome are not loading. All my files are still there.
Is there a way to load xwindows and gnome?
If not, and I need to do a fresh install, is there a way I can backup all my files and information and easily re-install later.
