I have lost sound after coming home . I came home to find my cord unplugged from my amd64 bit hp laptop .. Power of course ran out . Now there is no sound on the laptop but I can here the speakers click as the electric kicks on when I power up the laptop .I tried the rebooting tricks . Nothing .I am running 9.04 . In previous versions I would keep 1 old kernel or the previous kernel installed to boot into in case of sound loss . Though I haven't seen this option when I boot into ubuntu with this new Jaunty edition . Does anyone have any ideas ? I searched and could not find a general tech support thread showing things to do to check your sound for this particular issue . Thanks ahead for replies .. I just need to figure out how to trouble shoot the issue if nothing else please.

Is the sound turned up? In terminal put in aplay -l,and see if the card is being read.

Playing raw data '/home/ximal/Documents/frostwire/finished/36sally.mp3' : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono
aplay: set_params:956: Access type not available

This is what I got back . . :(
