How do i update the BOIS?

HP pavilion 7865, How do I update this bois? I looked on HP website and all there updates are only for Windows OS.

I agree with Partyboi2, it's a very good guide that has worked for me with many computers.
- With the exception of my current hp laptop, where I couldn't even extract the binary BIOS images from the self installer file. So in my case with my HP laptop, I was unable to update the BIOS without installing windows.

Also, everytime I update the BIOS on my HP laptop (and install windows specifically to do this - which I do between doing a clean install of a newer ubuntu distro :D ), I send HP some feedback to let them know I'd like an OS independant way of upgrading the BIOS.
