Hi there I downloaded the ubuntu live install disc and when I go into GParted to shrink my partition (click the arrow left x amount) it is grayed out. I have paroozed a few other threads and some people mention using ntfsresize. There is a yield sign next to the drive when i go to change the size and a boot flag is issued. i am not sure what these mean.
thanks for your time!

did you unmounted your drive before try to resize it?
Right click in your NTFS drive and click on "Unmount" first...

Instead of running or installing, go down to 'Check Disk for Errors' (or something similar.) Make sure the disk is ok.
