Cannot install game from CDRom in Wine

So say I wanted to install a windows game from the cd drive. I try to run the install file in Wine, which worked last time, but all I get is an error message telling me I have to boot from the cd drive. I got the instructions from another poster and tried to do it in the command line and it told me that cdrom0 didn't exist. Does anyone have any idea what to do next?

Hi, what were the instructions that you were given? Also what game are you trying to install?

It was Descent 1, which is ancient, so it should work fine, right? I did it just like I did before the reformat - I put it in the drive and ran the install file in Wine. The installer told me I had to boot from a CD. Which I was. Very confusing. I can't find the post I got from the other user anymore, but if anyone could help me with this I would appreciate it.
