I just installed 9.04 on a desktop, and I'm having some difficulties getting the correct resolution in X. (It's been a while since I've done a linux install).

The video card is an intel 82845G, and my screen is a syncmaster 932bw 1440x900. However, the display prefs show the monitor to be unrecognized, and do not give the correct resolution as an option.

After some searching I found a lot of discussion about using 915resolution to change the resolution for a mode, only to discover that package had been removed from ubuntu. After even more searching, I discovered that the i810-modesetting video driver is supposed to accomplish the same thing, but I haven't found any info on *how*.

So, my question is: how do i use the i810-modesetting driver to get the proper resolution?
