Me too(Fiesty). In the beginning I tried a LOT of other distros, but I kept coming back to Ubuntu.

I've stuck with it and it's played well with my hardware.

Since 7.04.
I had to remove it a few times and downgrade* to Windows XP with dual boot in order to finish my college works that demands M$ Office.
But now, I'm very happy with 9.04.

*yes, Ubuntu is an upgrade for my computer.

Since 8.04. Adamitj, you could have used Crossover, and it's also possible these days with straight Wine.

The first Linux I've used was Conectiva (the one the with Mandrake, became Mandriva), some 7 years ago.
The first time I tried Ubuntu was by the end of 2007, with Feisty. But I didn't actually use it.
Around november, last year, I got tired of Windows XP and didn't want to go to Vista, then I heard about Wubi, as I didn't want to mess up with partitions, I tought it was the way to go.
I installed Intrepid and liked it a lot, I kept the Wubi install, I also tried Linux Mint 6, some time after it, already partitioning my HD.
The day Jaunty released, I uninstalled both Mint and Intrepid, and installed Jaunty in it's own partition. I still have Windows XP in the other partition.

So I'm still in my first year of Ubuntu, and I don't think Windows will ever be my primary OS again, but it will always(?) have its place in my virtual machine.

Yes, I know it. I tried Crossover Office and Crossover Games in the past, but couldn't use it well because I had problems with Office 2007 and Brazillian Portuguese regional settings. So I had to use XP.

The best solution I found (since my laptop cames with Windows Vista Home Premium license and a downgrade to XP is legally permitted) is to run XP from Sun's VirtualBox just to use office 2007 (and yes, I bought a 2007 license for just BRL $ 199.00 :-] ).

For my games (including Starcraft and Warcraft 3) I use Wine in the original form, just changing the settings myself. Until now it is working.

Since 6.10, a month before 7.04 came out. Ubuntu 6.10 had extreme problems with my network and Internet didn't work out of box. Ever since 7.04, I haven't had many large problems like that.

Someone I met over the net introduced me to Ubuntu but it turns out that he was an idiot. I have always known about Linux but I thought it was all command line based servers and was worthless as a Desktop. I obviously couldn't have been more wrong about it.

2 1/2 years for me. I started with Feisty alpha 6 and have not looked back since.

the only 2 reasons i use it if for my ipod touch and my printer(witch is not compatible(lexmark x4875)) if it was not up to that i would be ubuntu only.
I also had a lexmark printer and kept windows around just for that. But that song and dance got old, and I went out and bought a cheap HP all in one. Was well worth it. As far as the ipod goes, (I refuse to buy one) you could use virtualbox for that. Actually, you can use vbox for the printer also. No real need to have a full blown install of windows anymore.

I had been on and off from Ubuntu sense 2007, Hardy made it viable for me, Interpid made it better. And Jaunty made it stick, (for me at least). At this time I have no plans on removing it now. (At least until Karmic comes out :p)

First attempt May last year, Kubuntu Hardy Heron. I liked it, but something kept corrupting my pc's MBR (it's a dual boot system), so I stopped using it after about a month.

This June I discovered a way to dual boot without changing the MBR (no, not Wubi), so I tried again. No more MBR problems. I find I'm mostly using Kubuntu now, but I still need Windows occasionally.

Started in March with Intrepid, just before Jaunty came out. Upgraded with no issues, love it so far. Still a newbie but have learned a few little tricks and tweaks. Having fun for a wannabe geek!

See my UF join date. May 2006. That is with version 4 or 5. I installed it and several days later a new version came out, which came in handy at the time since WPA got supported in that version so my wireless worked propperly.

The first Linux I saw was a Red Hat around four years ago. That was when I learned that there was something other than Windows. I admired the looks (could only do that back then). It slipped off my mind.
Linux came back to my mind around a month ago when I had some problems with my Windows. I tried Fedora first and then came to Ubuntu. Had some problems in the start. Quite happy now :)
