View Full Version : [ubuntu] Won't install on 2nd HDD. Stuck in an endless loop!

I'm returning to Ubuntu after an absence. It's looking much improved...except I can't install.

I have 2 HDDs. One has an XP installation, the other is empty. That's where I want to install.

I get as far as the selecting partitions step (4 of 7). At first, I couldn't go any further. So I went into the 'Manual Partitition' page...but didn't do anything. I went back to the Partitions page and selected 'Use entire disk' and selected my empty HDD. Now I can complete the remaining stages.

But when I click 'Install'...after a short time it goes back to the Select Partitions step.

On the partitions table, it's showing my XP HDD as /dev/sda1 and my empty HDD as /dev/sbd1.

Any ideas?

You might check the cd for errors at the opening menu, for starters.
