No sound since last update

I decided to post this here rather than in multimedia because I'm pretty sure the problem is update-related. I'm still running Intrepid, and downloaded a bunch of new updates last night. After installing them, my sound completely stopped working. Is there a way to uninstall only the most recent updates? Any other suggestions would also be appreciated. NB: aplay -l still finds my sound card, and my volume is not muted.

Thanks, I'll look through that. Does anyone know if it's possible to roll back the latest updates? I'd like to know this regardless.
