Hello all, I'm in the market for a webcam for use with skype.
Does anyone know of uvc webcams that are guaranteed (or, at least you've had personal success) to work with Skype in Ubuntu Jaunty.
I already have a Logitech Eyetoy (PS2), which is not uvc compliant (obviously). Also, the sound does not work. (No one has provided a fix for that, as I know of)
I'm looking in the price range of <$40.
I'm considering the Hercules Dualpix Exchange, which looks to be a good cam based on reviews and is UVC-compliant. However, this person seems to have a problem with it in skype, when both the video and the sound are accessed simultaneously in Skype. (http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=361841)
If anyone knows of a budget webcam w/ an integrated mic that works well in Ubuntu and preferably with skype, it would be greatly appreciated!
Just in case it matters, this is my system:
Dell Inspiron 6000
Intel Pentium MMX Processor 1.8Ghz
ATI Mobility Radeon Graphics Card
1GB DDR2 RAM
Thanks!
