I'm trying to install ANY Ubuntu O/S on to my friend's Compaq Presario 1200 (aka 12xl125) and the screen goes blank whenever I try to install it (not due to screen saver). Even with Xubuntu Alternate disk, I can install it, but when it tries to re-boot, the screen goes blank again (it's fine from boot to the text "grub" etc etc..)
The HD is still running and when I type in the name and password, the HD engages again, but I can't see what's happening.
(note: I lack access to a normal monitor)
I'm trying Ubuntu 8.04LTS Desktop one last time, and after the initial installation page, the screen has gone blank again.
533MHZ with 192MB ram and 6GB HD. I've never had this much trouble installing Ubuntu. :confused:
