Hey.
I am in deep trouble. I still don't know if I am having problems with hard disks or with motherboard booting them, but this has gone too far. I had two Seagate barracuda hard disks, one 500gb and 250 gb. First I installed Ubuntu, after a while I decided that I needed windows for a few games and then I fixed GRUB, so for a while everything went fine, until I got "blue screen of death" in windows and couldn't boot Windows anymore (installed windows on 250 gig HD ).
Now a while has passed and I have lived without games and whola - today I tried to boot up my PC and I got "Please select proper boot device". My 250 GB HD is gone, my motherboard doesn't load it. I still have my 500 GB HD and I thought Ubuntu is installed on it, but with the other drive gone I can't boot up Ubuntu anymore. I inserted LiveCD and tried to fix grub - I did fix it, but Now I am getting "Error 21:" i think it stands for "Wrong disk selected".
I can see all my files via LiveCD, but I can't boot ubuntu anymore.

What to do ? Should I reinstall Ubuntu? Can I do that no loosing data ? Or is there a way I can fix this ?

Please help me!

Check hdd boot order in bios to make sure the linux one is first. That may work.

Have you tried using System Rescue CD? http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page

I always keep a copy handy in my laptop bag to troubelshoot/fix any issues I may run into.
