I upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 to 9.04 (I was trying to reach 9.04, so I didn't spend any time with 8.10).

I've had problems with sound ever since going to 9.04. I suspect that alsa is probably OK, since I get the login sounds. The problem seems to me to be pulseaudio - the various configuration tools show no output device (no sink). The sources look right. Not sure where to go or what information is needed.

I have a Dell Vostro 200; I am using the sound on the motherboard.

From 'lspci', this appears to be my audio device:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)

Help is appreciated.
